| Aalto Aalto PS 2003 |
P.S.(Pagos Seleccionados). This wine will be a super-premium wine, made
only in years when the quality of the harvest allows for the highest
standards. A special and careful selection of the best fruit, from
specific vineyards, leading to batch fermentation and individual
barriques leads to the name.
The Wine Advocate
The
2003 Aalto PS is purple/black with an unusually expressive nose for
this hot vintage. It reveals smoke, toast, vanilla spice, blueberry,
and blackberry jam. This is followed by a fleshy wine with excellent
depth and full-body.
The Wine Spectator
Hard
to resist this lush, modern red, with its mouthwatering blackberry and
boysenberry fruit and lavish toasty vanilla oak. But has plenty of
structure, with ripe tannins and fresh acidity, so give it time to
develop. Drink now through 2015.

| Aalto Aalto ribera del Duero |
Wine Advocate 92:
A purple-colored wine offering a stylish nose of smoke, toast,
graphite, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. On the palate it is medium
to full-bodied, ripe, and slightly compact with an elegant dense finish. -- Wine Advocate
Ruby-red. Intense perfume of
boysenberry, sexy oak spices, vanilla and candied flowers. The
concentrated flavors of red and dark berries and vanilla are almost
sweet but are nicely lifted by juicy acidity. Finishes lush, broad and
long, with supple tannins.

| Casajús Antiguos Viñedos 2004 |
The Tempranillo grapes that make this wine come from our vineyards
planted in and around 1920 in Quintana del Pidio, a quaint village in
the heart of Ribera del Duero. 2004 yielded an exceptional
balance between sugar, acidity and all phenolic parameters, resulting
in one of the most memorable vintages in the history of Ribera del
Duero. This vintage has officially been rated EXCELLENT. Since we
harvest by hand we do a grape selection right in the vineyard and then
we bring the grapes in small stainless steel trays. Once in the winery
and after the destemming process the grapes fermented in small
stainless steel tanks to assure proper control of temperatures and
progress of the fermentation. The wine aged for 16 months in French
and American oak barrels knitting perfectly the light toast from the
barrels with the bright fruit from the Tempranillo varietal. Then the
time in bottle will bring refinement and harmony to the wine for years
to come.
VISUAL. This wine shows a dense ruby/purple color. NOSE. This Antiguos Viñedos 2004 has a rich aromatic nose with hints of minerals, blackberries, spice and licorice. TASTE.
This wine has a fabulous concentration and it is plentiful. All the
nuances from the nose expand in the palate and bring a full flavor
experience from the Tempranillo grapes. The ripe tannins from the
grapes blend with the barrel and ads complexity to the wine. Bright
cherry flavors with hints of raspberry, vibrant acidity this all
provides excellent balance and structure. The finish is full and
persistent.

| Casajús Vendimia Seleccionada 2005 |
This wine is made with 100% Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) grapes from our
vineyards located in Quintana del Pidio, in the heart of the Ribera del
Duero appellation in the province of Burgos. Grape maturation on the 2005 vintage was exceptional with balanced acidity and high phenolic values. Harvest
was done by hand and the grapes were brought into the winery in small
stainless steel containers. Once in the winery, the fermentation took
place in a small stainless steel tank of 10,000 liters with a rigorous
temperature control to keep the freshness of the juice and develop its
aromatic potential. The official 2005 Vintage rate from the Ribera del Duero appellation Council was “Very Good”.
VISUAL. This wine shows a dense ruby/purple color almost opaque. NOSE.
Intense, with lots of nuances and aromas of sweet berries, truffles and
spice with notes of the typical licorice from the Tinta Fina
(Tempranillo) varietal. TASTE. Powerful attack with an initial
velvety impression that is followed by a cascade of blackberry and
licorice hints with mineral nuances. It is ample and rich with
impressive sweet fruit tannins for this 6 months aged wine, unique
example of a Tinta Fina made from 85 year old vines.

| El Chantre Ramos Paul 2004 |
| The Ramos-Paul wine is one of the first Andalusian red wines to be
launched on the market with the Denomination of Origin Sierras de
Malaga, subzona Serrania de Ronda. Within this D.O. some concrete
guidelines are tried to be established in order to maintain the best
quality parameters, as are: the prohibition of watering as from the
second year after planting, the manual grape harvest in 22kg boxes as a
maximum in order to guarantee that the grapes arrive in a perfect state
and a high planting density in order to establish a competition between
the plants to obtain a higher quality. |

| Ercavio Plazuela 2002 |
| 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(mostly
tempranillo and grenache) Ruby-red. Aromas of spicecake, leather, dark
chocolate and flowers. Sweet and spicy in the mouth, with excellent
ripeness for 2002. Flavors of red berries, leather and game. Finishes
with sweet, dusty tannins and very good length." (Sep/Oct 05) The La
Plazuela shows off the best of all that La Mancha has to offer. Made
from a blend of Cencibel (aka Tempranillo) and Garnacha, this red is a
real powerhouse. The old vines, more than 30 years old, yield fruit of
tremendous depth and concentration. The resulting wine is full, rich
and fleshy. Ejoyable now, the Pazuela will keep well for the next few
years. |

"The 2006 Gamonal is 100% Prieto Picudo aged for 9 months in new French and
American oak. Dark ruby-colored, it reveals an expressive bouquet of cedar,
spice box, cherry, and black raspberry. This leads to an elegant,
smooth-textured wine with excellent depth and concentration. The flavors dance
gently across the palate into a pure, lengthy finish. Drink this stylish effort

| Vinya Del Vuit El 8 2002 |
VS
Notes: Only 12 six-packs of this rare and incredibly delicious wine
were allocated to Colorado, and we have been told we’ll get at least a
few of those, which will arrive in a few weeks. As the importer said,
the 2004 vintage is, and I quote, “friggin’ spectacular,” end quote.
That this wine was not reviewed by the Wine Advocate is something of a
relief – there will be less of a stampede, and we got more that just a
tenth of our requested number of bottles.
In past vintages, I have loved this wine – it is a delicious modern
wine, showing loads of plum, oak, cinnamon and berry characteristics.
I’ve not yet had the opportunity to try this one, but I have no doubt
that the 8 friends who produce this (including Rene Barbier, and Daphne
Glorian of Clos Erasmus) have made another stunning wine. For those of
you who were not able to get any Erasmus, for example, this is a very,
very delicious substitute. The vines are from 60-80 years old, and are
95% Carinena, 5% Garnacha, aged in large French oak barrels for 20
months. (2002 vintage: AEM 4.0+)
Importer Notes: “In September, 2001, La
Vinya del Vuit (the vineyard of the 8) was created in Gratallops by 8
friends. Centered around the winemaking couple of Rene Barbier Jr. and
Sara Perez, the group took advantage of the extremely old vines on
these schist-filled hills to create this new and exciting enterprise.
They currently produce only one bottling of extremely limited
quantities. “The terroir of the Priorat should be looked at in a
Burgundian context, with each of the historical villages having
slightly different soils producing different styles of wines. However,
the one common theme that draws them all together is the presence of
schiste (licorella in Catalan) which helps form these craggy hillsides.
The vines are planted on slopes and are often steeply terraced, making
for difficult work and extremely low yields. “The climate is
Mediterranean and the summers are quite warm. Harvest is always by hand
at this tiny estate and is carried out only in the early hours of the
morning. The grapes are taken to the winery in small refrigerated
trucks. There is an aggressive winery triage before a portion of the
grapes are crushed. Fermentation starts naturally using only indigenous
yeasts and may take up to a month in 500 liter, open-top tanks. The
grapes are then crushed again before being racked (only by gravity)
into French oak barrels for ageing.” Eric Solomon
