| Falesco Marciliano |
| Winery's Notes: "Made from 70% Cabernet
Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc grown in estate vineyards in Umbria.
The grapes were harvested in October and the must spent 28 days on the
skins. Malolactic fermentation was carried out in barriques (Nevers and
Tronçais) where the wine remained for 16 months prior to an additional
6-12 months in bottle. Marciliano has a profound dark purple color and
exhibits complex aromas of tobacco and slate. This wine is a great
representation of Cabernet when all of nature's forces are working
together. Layers of fruit are evident on the nose and on the palate,
while the tannins are expressive without being too aggressive."
The Critics: Wine Enthusiast Editor's
Choice: "Here is a knockout wine from one of Italy's most talented
enologists, Riccardo Cotarella, that delivers classic Cabernet green
notes followed by bursting tones of blackberry, tobacco, toasted
coconut flakes, apple pie crust and ... distant hints of black
licorice. The aromatic complexity is stellar and so is the velvety
mouthfeel; a genuine crowd pleaser." -Wine Enthusiast, 93 points. |

Montiano's soil is volcanic and rich in stones and the vineyard has a

| Gaja Darmagi 2000 |
| Intense, deep red, almost black. Opulent layers of
concentrated fruit. Though very Cabernet in character, Darmagi owes its
distinctive, austere personality to the unique terroir of Barbaresco.
Excellent fruit with strong cassis flavors and impressive power on the
palate carry through to the long finish with persistent soft tannins.
Great aging potential.
Wine Spectator
Aromas
and flavors of berries, earth and lightly toasted oak follow through to
a full-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a long finish. Needs some
bottle age to come together. Pure Cabernet Sauvignon. Best after 2006.
1,000 cases made.
Score: 90.

| Gaja Sori Tilden 2000 |
Displays the roundest
tasting profile of all Gaja single-vineyard wines. The rich body,
subtle texture and fine, ripe tannins are typical for this wine of
great finesse, the quintessential expression of the land and the
Nebbiolo grape. This wine has extraordinary aging potential--more than
forty years in outstanding vintages.
Color: Deep purple
Nose: Complex aromas of toast, minerals, sour cherries, cedar, spices.
Palate: The rich body, subtle texture and fine, ripe tannins are
typical for this wine of great finesse, the quintessential expression
of the land and the Nebbiolo grape.
The 2000 Sori Tildin is larger in dimension than the Costa Russi but
the major difference is in the nose, riper, warmer, and with more
chocolate and licorice as well. The roundness and suppleness, the
richness of the extraction, and the ampleness of the finish are also
superior to Costa Russi. Drink: 2005-2018. Robert Parker 93
